Tool # 11 - Final Post

For your final 11 Tools post, answer these questions:

1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.

I really enjoy working with Photo Story 3 - I am planning in use each student’s voice on their Storytelling Project - they will tell me the story, illustrated, I will add everything in Photo Story 3 and add their voice telling the story to their friends.

2. How have you transfomed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom?

I was a little skeptical about working with I-touches’ with my Pre-kinder students. After watching and going through all my training I found that they will not just love it but also learn so much with all the apps that is going to be available for them.

3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

Just the idea that my Pre-kinder students are going to be able to have great and upgraded technology in their hands is amazing!

I had fun doing this training!!

Tool # 11

Digital Citizenship:

To make our 4 year old students great digital citizens I will need to model, model, and model!!!
They will need to care for all equipments and materials. This is going to be the first lesson and a very important one! Almost of my students never been around or touch a computer. I will need to create easy and engaging lessons to keep their interest. They will need to understand that the I-touch and notebooks are not toys and that they are not going to be playing on it but working/learning on it! They will need to understand that all materials are expensive and belong to the school. Pre-kinder students are going to have specifice websites and specifics games to work and they are not going to be aloud to go in any website without permission. Basic first - with adult supervision!

This year is going to be great... The possibility of having all this technology available to all students is amazing! The apps are challenging for all ages. They have games that teach and this is what I like. The students are going to think that they are playing but in reality they are learning. I always tried to make technology fun in my classroom but now is it going to be easy! 

It all there...they just need to touch!

Tool # 9

I have been working with SKYPE for a long time. This is the way I talk with my friends and family in Brazil. It is a very easy tool to download and use - you just need a camera and microphone.

This is a tool that can be used between teachers around the district and also having a camera is a great tool to share projects from one classroom to another.

I love to use videos in my science unit, math, language arts and more! The students love to watch it over and over again helping them retain all the information much easier.
